Gaia

Gaia

A Poem by Nicola

I have heard the song of blossom and the old ocean's desire

And whispered ancient lore from under the guidance of trees

I have seen the moon scarred skies and the bleak, enraptured fire

And watched the tales passed on by the caressing breeze.

I have seen the merciless wrath brought forth by ruthless nights

And witnessed newborn flowers bowing to the Sun

I have felt the touch of brightness and the pure, unshrouded light

And watched gleaming snow take charge as Summer is undone.

I have whispered words of love and given bountiful birth

And healed fallen plants whose roots called out for aid

I have sensed the anguish lingering when flames have scored the earth

And have watched with tearful eye as joyous life is made.

I have tasted water fresh and blessed falling on my tongue

And felt the blood of Nature's body shiver down my spine

I have touched the gates of Heaven through the mist of words unsung

I glance around this dreamscape and I know that it is mine.
