reach for you and find you there

reach for you and find you there

A Poem by m.s.early

I crept outside like a vandal
A Peeping Tom on the outside looking in
Feeling like a lover undiscovered
Like a dream that’s never been

I looked up at the moon and wondered
How do you know when to glow
Why do you bother when no one understands
Does it even matter anymore

I’ve forgotten what it means
To hear the music in the air
I want to feel thunder inside my core
Reach for you and find you there

I feel the things I use to love
And now I’m just tired and worn
Looking back at the pain and doubt
Wondering if I was ever really born

I hope you still think of me
When the night comes on
It’s another long one for me
They all are now that you’re gone

I’ve forgotten what it means
To hear the music in the air
I want to feel thunder inside my core
Reach for you and find you there

I don’t know what would be different
If I had you one more time
Maybe nothing, maybe everything
Maybe it’s barely better than dying

Alone ain’t the place it use to be
I could escape for moments to unwind
But now I just want to crawl the walls
And pray I don’t lose my mind

I’ve forgotten what it means
To hear the music in the air
I want to feel thunder inside my core
Reach for you and find you there

This is the best of yours that I've read so far. Usually I'm not a fan of love & heartbreak poems becuz they sound so much the same. That's why I love how creative you are in your uninhibited expressions & organic phrasing. This feels so spontaneous, like you are actually going thru the throes of feeling mixed up & unsettled, as if this is unfolding right in front of me, it feels so authentic & palpable. Totally compelling! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

"Feeling like a lover undiscovered
Like a dream that’s never been ..."

A nuance of emotion expressed with indelible impression...as the line "reach for you and find you there" bleeds through the poem's entirety. I love this one, Matt. Good to have you on my radar!

I'll always travel with you there....
As we age, the things that seemed so obvious to us in youth fail. We began looking for space in the closet and yet to our bitter astonishment we find it almost empty. Alone isn't the place it used to be....
