A Poem by m.s.early
"

for my wife

"

eternity has not broken

yet

i am with you

and will be

until the sun finally burns a hole

into the pale forever

and every

single

star

pledges its undying allegiance to you

like i promised they would

the first time my typewriter ever clicked out

your name

here is the poem you said I forgot how to write

...the undying allegiance and mention of the typewriter gave this momentum for me. I still have my smith corona in the dark recess of my closet, as if it were waiting for me to find it there. Haven't the heart to do away with it, even though its been there for years.

This is a wonderful write, Matt. It definitely has a pulse!

'until the sun finally burns a hole into the pale forever', a lovely line that etches on the permanent and beautiful - lovely lines you have here

I am with Mia on this one...there is something undeniable when you write like this. Your other stuff is always well written too.....but there is so much more soul in these pieces....they show your true gifts!

This beautiful work holds a bit of situational irony because I just read the opposite by Samantha ~virginpoet ("Another Wretched Poem"). It's the yin to your yang in this poem. This is something that I should've written, but for whatever reasons, didn't. Good for you in not forgetting to write her this lovely piece.

Xavier, this is beautiful and poignant. What a great tribute to your wife. Love it.

sometimes what we need is a reminder, a gentle nudge perhaps, to usher our blind reasoning's along.
Poems are what happens when all else has failed. Forever I imagine, in poet time, is a long a*s time.

beautifully written x.....dana

love the personification of the typewriter...and "until the sun finally burns a hole/into the pale forever."

you, my friend, will never forget how to write, and so many poems are just waiting to be "clicked" into existence by you.
