sunrise in a new town

sunrise in a new town

A Poem by m.s.early

From the well red comfy cushions
From the sofa my sister gave me
When I was drunk and poor and craving sanity
I watch this town give birth to a new day
Between its humming power lines

Meanwhile, the pancakes are browning nicely
And the school bus lights are ticking
In front of the neighbor's yard

I remember when I was crazy
White knuckling through every hallucination
Before I moved to this town
With humming power-lines
With soft sweet sunrise kisses
With the laughter of children
Scrambling onto school buses
Behind its ticking lights
On beautiful pink and azure mornings
That they often take for granted

If only it weren't taken for granted. then there would be one or 2 more reasons to live. Could do without the power lines but, how would I be typing this. guess I'll live with the humming and continue to emgrace reality

Those new beginnings are often so elusive; but so well worth the search and never to be taken for granted when they happen.

I really enjoyed reading this.

Beccy.

craving sanity, I like that...the pancakes browning nicely, good idea for breakfast this morning for my child, pink and azure mornings, I can just see the sky, it is so pretty, I think the children appreciate it more than we do sometimes because it is all newer for them, but if they are tired, they are too run down to appreciate it, I know I was a lot more tired kid than I realized...

you knock us or jolt us back into sanity...though we may crave both insanity and sanity when the lines become too drawn

Only you Silver could breech the everyday with intelligent the beauty. Masterful!

I loved the 'everyday' feel of this poem - almost casual yet with a strong message - stop to smell the flowers once in a while.
Good work X silver

How many times, we look around and think...It's not enough! I love this poem....It says look around at all I got! This is so appropriate for where we should be this time of year. Most out looting ....stingy ...greedy....How much...too much....too little...need more....As I sit here in the window, I thank God...I have so much! Happy Holidays X. Kiss all those Girls. Celebrate your life with Love. Hugs!

A place with warm light of sun and bus's Gharrahat, sounds so great. Lovely place for free and indipendent thought. Great one.

The new place sounds so wonderful. Life is beautiful when we start cherishing the little everyday things that we often take for granted. A great poem with a great message. Appreciated a lot.

it's hard to get back into a sane life when we have lived in a different place....
and now all those things we took for granted suddenly reappear, and we actually notice them.
