A Poem by m.s.early

and lo, it appears the sun is waning, dimming twilight
prematurely
and the eyes of the moon
laboriously awaking
yet even from the hilltop is there a lullaby
fervent is its hush to the moon
coaxing it to nestle
in heaven’s starry cloud-loft
but with stretching yawn and lip smacks
it replies, “I awake… even though”
persuading the sun…
reschedule your departure!
consult a horologist!
with ever grounding, growing twilight
it replies, “I repair... even though”
where upon the infinite gaze of love into the future
it is to notice
no moment is parted from in haste
that love and death and life and hate
ever ebb in their eternal flow
when touch is softening on our flowers
there is careless trampling nearing
and the lullaby knows no secret
yet it hums sweetly
even though

There is depth and breadth and wonderment in this piece. Questions, love, life, and time that ever ticks on.
Now, not to take away from the beauty, I have a thought or two
awaking I might switch out for awakening, but perhaps that's just my ear.
More importantly, I want to say "yet even from the hilltop there is a lullaby" instead of is there, however if you want to make it a question, would it not flow better as "yet even from the hilltop is there not a lullaby?
I so rarely see anything in your work I would re-work, I hope you don't mind me jumping in. If you don't like, of course, the poetic license is yours.

Love can certainly do this to you. This was beautiful, I really enjoyed the picture you painted in my mind with your words.
