An eternity of longing, a future of loving, and once again you shall belong. Nestled deep within the mountain stroking her luxurious hair, whispering adored poetry in her ear. I am swept into the romance of forever in this mystical and enduring love letter. Your soaring in those Cherokee eyes...beginning to remember ....there is more than death to life :)
Maria Makiling or sometimes spelled as Mariang Makiling is a myth character, a forest nymph that is associated with the Mount Makiling in the Philippines…but obviously in this poem it is an allusion to a lady, a beautiful Filipina woman whom the narrator had seen ( or perhaps have met, as the poem suggested) in a talipapa ( talipapa is a Filipino term for small wet market) in his search for a golden ginger ( luya). He fell in love with her, but since he is a man from a distant place and not a local, the distance, including the time difference in between, is a piercing space that puts him into a sweet agony, into a fear that he might not be able to secure her love...but whatever may separate them he desires no one but her and no one else…
Ah this speaks about true love, about soul mates...
Your work is always rich in imagery and emotion, and you're always able to make the mesh seamlessly. It's hard to quote particular parts of your poems as they always have such cohesion. Well done X :)
Not familiar with the title, but you did fabulous job with this. just as real life where one longs for another, to have them in there sites, to love the one they adore.
Beautiful imagery and great storytelling here, Xavier; your title made me turn to google, thus you were the source of my "something new learned" for this day. I enjoyed this, a unique piece.

Xavier, I love this! but I'm not sure about "do I seek I solace"....it might be better as "do solace I seek"
are you a bird, creature or a man? I'm left wondering through the entire poem, because you could be anyone of those. Beautiful imagery and sweet yearning for love on that mountain. Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful! Thank you for asking me to review it.

Thank you for the review and pointing that error out. It was a typo. :)
This may talk about a famous mythical story. But, i think, allusively, this composition talks about a man/youth, who saw a lady with a seraphic beauty at a place, miles away from his own home. He got besotted with her beauty. He seeks an incident to meet her. He waits by the way or road for hours, where had seen her for the first time, in order to see and meet her.No doubt, he longs for her. There is a social divide of strata, race, between them. But he is ready to leave his past and family for her. If misconstred by me, lol i have made a fantasy. This wonderful poem is written with a great depth using vivid imageries.
