along i think this sometimesA Poem by m.s.earlyAlong I think this sometimes: I will travel a while longer with you; I have not yet tired of your impassioned soliloquies nor your quaint meanderings on love or old friends. "Yes love, it is true I'm not always listening. It's just how you describe me... as if in love with a poet too kind to compete for air time." Looking ahead into the dampening line, between your space and ours... isn't it better I should replace a verse with something not spoken until later, perhaps at a time when we are resting just along a scenic view, or under the shade of our own canopy? "No, don't say that, just because I am quiet doesn't mean I'm not listening. Perhaps my coffee wasn't hot enough or the berries have lost their flavor and the moment of those thought conceptions have brought me to a place where I might stretch my brain for little and try to remember it for a poem." "Yes dear, there is much I love about the way your voice softens when the moon is low and the evening brings us closer, but for now my backpack is weighing and it's time to walk and I'd like to think." And though I hear it in my head, I would never remind you that I am here for the walk and your company but enhances.
