al fresco - open air theatre.

al fresco
What mode is presented thine muse
upon gathering this backdrop's palette?
For the tone is abstract by pondering,
Its collodian color balance
could not have been
more perfect.
How now decide this display?
Thou gradients don the heavens;
thou divine disport candidly captures
a moment stilled by the imagination.
How palatial placed cedars
grace their audience aromatic
without facade beyond the bovine grazing.
This scene will certainly not fold.
How did you conspire with moon
to cross above table before the stars arrived?
Its cameo is certain to be obvious.
Were it to be dead center stage,
I suppose mine eyes
would not precipitate the way
they are threatening to now.

This photo was taken by my nearly lifelong friend Robbie Batte. He shares my love for our area with a similar passion. He has the blessed talent of capturing its grace in stills where I attempt its expressions in verse. Please visit the link I included above the photograph. It would definitely be worth reviewing. Cheers!

Whoa... I love the classic touch to this beautiful poem, Silver. The picture is lovely, too, and I can say your words did it justice.

Thank you LadyAnne. I was going for kind a contemporary play on that language. :)
the first stanza delineates the abstract beauty of the twilight sky in the photograph. it's rare to see a violet-hued sky surrounding a vibrant early moon above the blue sky of which dusk has not yet touched. it's like seeing three different time zones at once. your poetry faithfully depicts the lovely scene.

This lovely write accompanies a just-as-lovely photo
of beautiful rural Virginia. This poem has a new feel
and flair to it. I love your change-ups. I have missed
you here at WC of late, and I'm sure that others have
as well, but I understand that you have been busy
especially with the details of the clock tower. I am
glad that you and your writing have returned.

Thank you for appreciating, Rita. That's what I was going for :)
I think this is a great tribute piece, although, for me, the the thous and mines are a little formal -- to each thine own -- btw don't be a stranger, haven't seen you poke your head around my pieces in a bit --
