a frozen town

a frozen town

A Poem by m.s.early

thick blanket ice inches that thaw not,
chromed reached branches,
empty leaves,
streets still,
windows edges steamed,
barely mercury registering,
wind screaming,
awnings drooping,
neon blinking,
breath scarved,
misted,
frozen,
sparsely layered footprints leading,
lapis lazuli skies purely,
clouds paled
fade to greyed,
cleared,
starry evening,
lamped streets,
successive gleaming,
fuchsia skied morning frigid,
dreaming.

Thank you so much Jack :)
This gave me a chill, brrr. Your words are so descriptive I could actually feel the chill of this town. And you know I love 'lapis lazuli' skies, just love to say it, rolls off the tongue quite nicely.

I concur, I've used it a few times, always trying to fit it in somewhere. Always a pleasure x...wha.. read more

It sounds pretty until you stand in 8 degrees for more than 5 minutes.
