discovered

discovered

A Poem by m.s.early

deeply this morning i thought i might consider,
where did the winter leave us still breathless.
why was it so imperative that i scratch this edge?

the letters you've written me were itching
so i reread everyone until my mouth was dry.
you never saw the ink on my fingers
before you chose to kiss me.
you never knew why you replied.

there was an idle mind behind a blank stare
and the night whistled through the window
while we both became keenly aware
that we were discovered.

and the unbelievers' mouths were agape -
(still so incredulous),
and taking in the water that would drown them -
(refusing admission),
that the two oceans were a gyro with inertia.
a miracle some thought;
two fools awaiting imminence, some portended.

each letter i read this morning
noticed the divide was less vague than when written;
it didn't adjudge the present similarly:
the words were identical,
the punctuation was not disparate,
each comma held its pause,
each semicolon still a segway,
but somehow,
somehow,
the context was reborn with each pass
of my curious hand
brushing the dust away,
until i heard you say things that were never mentioned
and i knew spring would be soon.

i will buy you a boat
and we will chart new courses.
the skeptics will continue to forebode,
the romantics will swoon,
and you and i will care less of them both,
sailing away towards a horizon
of our choosing.

this morning is exhaling a new lull,
a premonition
that you and i will be realized
as discovered.

When you said you wrote poetry, you were right. I have held back in reviewing for sometimes it hurts me to read your work and sometimes I am too vain. Nonetheless, you are brilliant and I am so proud of your talent and I am always checking in on your writing. You have high intellect and I just love your poetry. I am sorry I don't review it enough.

Thank you Jen. It is a real treat when you do stop by. Thanks for reading :)
My friend, this is wonderful. I love this message, the idea is clear and your thoughts reverberate within me. There is a certain seduction here...it teases and lets out a few hints...wanting to be noticed. Very cool my friend.

My pleasure...Any time...:).............
Soft tones of a wish, rebirth, being found...punctuation as it will be, like the comfortable silence that rests between the hearts of the connected...with Spring, comes light, hence a new voice, strange, the older I get, the more prominent Spring becomes, the yearning for the light and planting of new sunrises :)

Beautiful, as ever hon x
