continue the dream

continue the dream

A Poem by m.s.early
"

sometimes i read others sharing their trial but not their victory

"

biding my time in the afternoon of life

looking past the newspaper ads

frustrated by their ambiguity

searching for something that holds water

in my mind's font.

but news ain't rational, i hear myself gesturing.

the television yammers with uselessness,

my cable bill centers on children cartoons

more relevant then evening news entertainers.

i'm finding again myself doubting love,

its existence in my pen,

the ink revolting against me.

a coup d'etat?

i wonder if justice is a long black fingernail ;

i wonder if this is the church age or the dark ages.

spring is hinting on the calendar

but not my thermostat,

even so it reminds that life will again renew,

that even the grayest winter cannot hinder,

virginia's mild climate.

at the notion of life anew,

the afternoon of my life becomes an arena.

i will walk to the post office;

i will look for mail in scented envelopes

and continue the dream.

i will still my mind and concentrate.

release stream of consciousness prose

until my pen exhausts its ink,

form phrases that make sense (at least to me)

with another pen

and continue the dream.

i will count smiles on the landscape,

and blow up my tv, burn my paper,

try to find Jesus,

seek peace in my mind's realm,

and continue the dream.

i will disregard ambiguity!

i will live as justified and act fairly!

the world around me is a cheap skin;

its film does not weigh.

before spring thaws my melancholy

i will call a friend,

i will create love where none is perceived,

and i will continue the dream.

I like how love and dream are connected here...So close to me feeling, boredom of "reality", something not worth to see are specially the TV news. They can`t let you to dream for sure...But your poems will, and your faith, and your love!

i will count smiles on the landscape,
and blow up my tv, burn my paper,
try to find Jesus,
seek peace in my mind's realm,
and continue the dream.

sounds so optimistic, we have to realize the real values, and remove all else...

I like the the rhythm this has, and sense of need for spring, and how you yearn to continue a dream with just another pen is a good perspective and quote for anything, I like it :)

Winter has that melancholy effect, but you are wise to look ahead to the promise of spring, and to create love - in every season.

conveys that things can only get better. virginia sounds like it has the climate conducive for for starting life anew and letting the love inside you flower and spread it around to those who might need it most. inevitably your melancholy will be replaced by hope and courage.

This is outstanding xavier, I often get stuck in this place you've pen'd, it never feels as vibrant as you've described it here.

This is amazing again, and spoken with such clarity. A strong message of struggle and moving through it -- great read.

Thank you KL. :)
I see perseverance here...the striving to hold onto hope and faith. To find meaning in every day things...establish priority in what is productive. Balance is essential in life...too much of the outside worlds negativity steals from our ability to find happiness. Excellent poem Xavier...so many lines to consider. ;-)

you said it...ambiguity, but also news entertainers...i remember in the old days when newscasters didn't try to be the news nor the entertainment...they simply reported it.

we need to count smiles more often...in today's world, there are not enough of them...

A really great write, frustration is crystal clear, and the hard time to figure out useful strategies for time being is well narrated, still projecting the message that poet is not going to recede but keep on dreaming for those positive communications with sweetness attached irrespective of the ambiguity of the present rough facts throwing towards poets heart and mind, interesting to see poet in this state contrary to firm, steady, calm, patient dreamer of the scented mails, congrats
