soon she'll driftA Poem by m.s.earlythere are snow flakes whirling under the street lights dancing up against her window before they take flight she's perched in the sill and reeling in pensive disbelief avoiding the walk to her lover's bedroom tonight and guilty for wishing she could fly away free if she were a snowflake she'd drift away from the moon to a lover whose heart bled in the words that he wrote tomorrow she'll search for his poetry and words in her throat but they'll all die on the vine having never bloomed there's an aching for something new down in her bones and she wants to leave like the snowflakes in the street but the words are cursed to endlessly repeat it's as if he can't see that his seasons are cold and alone and his eyes will glaze and his rain will turn to sleet and she'll crust over with the loneliness that only she knows
