She

She

A Poem by TheMidwesternJew
"

Irony kills, I suppose is the description.

"

She said she wanted children

"Paris, Fleetwood, Llewellyn,"

That would have been their

names

She wanted the mansion

that overlooked the rivers

and city lights

the pool with servants on the side

holding the silver platters

and the bottles of expensive wine

She wanted all the silk dresses

red

blue

of the world in a large closet

to the left of the king-sized bed

with velvet silk sheets

But he couldn't oblige

his doctor said he was impotent

he worked a job as a struggling journalist

living only on minimum wage

for most of their thirty year marriage

And

At 69

she left him

Dispirited

Her dreams long gone

And he wound up with his head

being found in 320 degrees

And she was killed

in a head-on collision with a truck

three days

after they found her broken man

Reminiscent of Bukowski. Try to use stronger synonimes and work on imagery.
