Close Your EyesA Poem by Victoria HarlequinClose Your Eyes The city is just a flash of faces Ones I don’t get to actually see My head spins to try and catch them Minute by minute they quicken Becoming a blurred swirl of colors A panicked painting of uncertainty It never ceases to slow down Maybe it’s meant to confuse me To jumble my thoughts and perceptions I’m tempted to reach out my hand Just to see if I could stop time I do not want to be stuck here In this uncontrollable mirage Frustration is trying to claim me But I won’t CRUMBLE to my knees The voices will not PARALYZE me My sanity is all that remains All of my faith has been burned Along with my acceptance I need someone to notice me Or else I will be my DOWNFALL Not now, but dreadfully soon Save me from the long drop down
I know time is running out Roads are being torn apart Stories have been hidden away Now, there is only one remaining task I must close my eyes
