Light

Light

A Poem by t.m.

I found this light and
It was so bright
That I covered my eyes.
I hid from this sun
And kept my world so dark
That the good from the day
Couldn't permeate my mind
During the night.
When my eyes would close
I was gone in a world that
Destroyed me until next I would wake.
After so long the hand shielding
My darkness from the light
Wavered and a ray crept in.
It burned so much
That it cracked the skin and
I when the sun would go away
I found myself missing it
Against my will.
In time the cracks spidered,
Creating a big enough opening that
When I closed my eyes
A door would open and
Lightning would flash.
It struck in my world and
Scared my demons
Into momentary hiding.
