Chapter IIA Chapter by ManiacalLust
"The price of greatness is responsibility."
-Sir Winston Churchill A heart wrenching scream pierced the silence of the mid-day atmosphere. A scream that is feminine, a damsel in distress, and of untold horror. That snapped Bobby's training focus and his head to the right, where the scream came from. Across the field and over a row of the school's building where classes are still ongoing. He had no doubt the scream had gotten the student's attention as well as the teacher's themselves. It had probably come from the entrance of Fairview's International High School's entrance. A bear, probably. Probably. The school was situated at the north-western end of the great city, close by a natural reserve. Animals sometimes made their appearance in the school. Usually curious and harmless animals like a deer, or a crafty raccoon that came to scavenge for food in their cafeteria waste bags. Rarely a bear, mostly because bears leave the compound alone and they are as shy as a adolescent girl asking for a autograph from their celebrity crushes. Perhaps this bear is hungrier than usual, and decided to try human flesh for a change. He didn't really care much about it, but he'd go to help anyways. However, something is still very, very wrong. His instinct is telling him to stay, don't go to help. The hair at the back of his neck still prickling, and his stomach was churning. Not that he was famished, it was more like the sort of extremely bad feeling. The one you would get at the pit of your stomach when your mother calls you angrily, using your full name. Or worse. Rushing over to the nearby wooden shack by the school Hall (A very large spacious assembly hall, the one with a raised stage and is also used as a court for sports), he quickly pulled the door open and entered. The shack was just your usual wooden shack, built with lazy hands and minds. The roof was a hip roof, screwed and hammered down to the four foundation wooden pillars. Inside, it was filled with all kinds of P.E equipment, sport's armor, and his small duffel bag custom made as well to hold his Compound Bow and the whole stack of his arrows. All sorts of arrows were inside of it, ranging from the common target points and field tips to broadheads and judo points. He slung his quiver to the side and took out his field tipped arrows, all 15 of it, and replacing them with 5 Mechanical Broadhead arrows and 10 Fixed-Blade Broadhead arrows. Broadhead arrows are usually used for big game hunting, or just your normal hunt. Mechanical Broadhead arrows are much more meant for very large game such as a bear, or even an elephant. That is because the mechanical broadhead deploys its blades upon contact with the target, its blades swinging out to wound the target internally. Able to turn grey matter to mush, a heart to explode, and insides to bits. Fixed blade arrows are just slightly less lethal. But only just. Thump. Thump. Thump. Sounds of something loud emanated around Bobby. The one's you would hear from movies of Dinosaurs. Like Jurassic park or at construction sites, where they use the massive jack hammer to pound the earth. Only this was actually real. And there were no construction sites around. He pressed his ear to the soft ground below and closed his eyes, listening again. It seemed to grow louder with each repetition. Getting closer and closer. The air reverberating around and puffs of dust falling from the nook and crevices around the shack. The sound seem to stop, suddenly and unexpectedly.. Just as sudden as it stopped, it came back again, louder than ever and faster. It was approaching faster and faster, a loud roar went up in the air. Too loud to be an animal from this area, and too unnatural to be on this earth. It was getting closer to where he is. Bobby turned his head, and his heart froze. A large giant stood before his eyes, spikes and bones protruded everywhere. Like an armored giant, it towered twelve feet tall. Having an armored body of sharp bones, and a severely disfigured face. The skull was devoid of all natural skin tissue, reddened eyes adding to the menacing look. Even worse, it was charging towards him. The giant crashed into his weak shack, destroying and sending splinters everywhere. Burying him underneath the blown off one piece of roof. The last thing he heard was another loud roar, and sounds of crushed buildings. Screams of horror from students and teachers alike before he lost all consciousness. © 2013 ManiacalLustAuthor's Note
