MountainsideA Poem by BradleyDarkness is deceiving.Walking on a slope Hand held by the moon Watched by the stars I search for a path Stepping over roots Avoiding loose gravel I’ll find a way out Standing on a slope A shiver licks my cheek Trees groan and leaves shudder I grip the moon Stars close their eyes The sky is swallowed I’ll find shelter Huddled on a slope Clouds mutter and laugh Rain fills the empty space I’m exposed to the night Lightning sears a picture In the eye of my mind I’ll move a few steps Creeping on a slope Flashes reveal shapes Shadows mock my vision I search for a path Tripping over roots Slipping on loose gravel I’ll never make it out Falling down a slope Stones punish my body Branches lash my limbs I grasp at the moon I look for the stars I laugh at the clouds I curse the lightning I’m losing; I’m lost At the bottom of a mountain The sun hands me a blanket The day lifts my head I search for a path © 2016 BradleyAuthor's Note
