The Voice

The Voice

A Poem by Lydia

In the night I hear a voice
So chilling and so frightening
Directing me to do...things
My fear begins heightening

"Do it, do it now
They deserve to die
No one will know
Just lie, lie, lie..."

The voice directs my steps
Leading me to that drawer
My hands grip the handle
And I walk towards the door

"Do it, do it now
They deserve to die
No one will know
Just lie, lie, lie..."

Their oblivious snores
Echo through the dark room
I'm like a puppet
As the voice creates their doom

"Do it, do it now
They deserve to die
No one will know
Just lie, lie, lie..."

My arm raises the knife
And soon my mother is dead
I move on to my father
And do the same as he lies in bed

"You've really done it now
You foolish, naive little girl
You know not to listen to me
You were supposed to be they're pearl,"

My hand drops the weapon
And the voice disappears
I tremble in realization
And my eyes release a tear

I killed my dear parents
But not because I wanted to
The voice made me do it
And then away he flew

In the night I hear a voice
That fills me with such dread
"Not you again," I plead
To the voice within my head

Not my best, but since I haven't uploaded anything in a while I just wrote something up really quick. Disturbing, as usual.

I loved the was this was structured, with the repetition of the second verse. I loved the darkness of it and the evil little voice. Another great poem! :D

I loved this poem, i didn't find it disturbing but very realistic to how a person can lose all sense of self and their mind, Im a big fan of poems like this. Thanks for sharing, you have a great imagination.

You don't really have a voice in your head, do you? :P It's still good, though not your best, and it is a bit disturbing... well done. Thank you.
