Perversed Leader

Perversed Leader

A Poem by TheLostAngel

Tell me, do you think yourself righteous?
Is it pride or lust that rules you?
Every word you speak brings silence to another.
You think your heart beats a golden tune.
Your words spill silver over the floor.
And men of wood and stone and dust grovel at your feet.

I dare you to look.
Look upon them.
The faceless shadows that no longer are.
Upon all the men in steel you owe your riches.
See the crimson money they lend to you.
Their broken steel forged your throne.

You stand on the mountain you created.
You stand tall on the splintered bones.
By your order, grey snow rains down on the land.
While you drink wine next to the crackling fire.
And fill your golden tub with the purest water.
You take away from those who barely survive.

But night comes to even the greatest of days.
You hear the chains whisper through their muzzles.
You see them conjuring plans for their lives.
The void within you rips at your confidance.
There is little left you can do.
So just sit by and watch as as the sircle completes.

All your debts shall be repaid.
You will stumble and fall.
You will burn in the ice cold snow.
You will freeze next to the fire.
The water fills with your filth.
The mud you despised will eat you whole.
