Void Warranty

They came in pair
Stood at my doorstep in sheep's clothing
Distinguish gentlemen in business attire
minus the shade
Selling newly refurbish vehicle
with lifetime warranty without brakes
Using backdoor sales pitch approach

As I welcome them in
Vultures starts flying in circles caught scent

of carcass in fineprint parking lot deal
I'm not a snake charmer
but tried to beat them in their own game
Aware of their homecourt advantage

while I play in devil's backyard
So I cut through the middleman and
ask for their company's owners manual

Uncovering their first victim turned cold case
Sworn affidavits states its a random
burglary gone awry
Their altered translation says otherwise

I pointed the assailants knew their victim
and the crime scene was staged
The perpetrator premeditated tampering
left a tell tale sign of motive and opportunity
Smart to cover their tracks but not too smart
to erased all their fingerprints

They butter me up with their offer of bread
My rejection baffled them more so
The fact that they could not see
Theirs is sour and mine is sweet
for our bread didn't come from same dough

The vultures didn't get to feed on any carrion
Nor they brought any bacon home
But I still manage to get where I'm going
For mine has brake and I drive slow ...

people twist the wording whatever way they can to sell us our own souls...and then they sleep well at night...but those suits have wrinkles in the souls of the pockets...and someday...the Tailor in the sky will meet them eye to eye...
and the meek who answered the door to let them in, will get the last smile...and new vehicle from somewhere else.

The last stanza reminds me of the story of the rabbit and the turtle. Slowly but surely... i share the sentiment of this piece, there's a need to be careful in trusting people. We should know how and when to resist the sweet talks of veteran marketeers. Spelling typo : opportunity, to erase, didn't come.
