There were two giant creatures mentioned in the Bible. A behemoth and a leviathan. The first drowned in the Great Deluge and the latter being aquatic may have survived and still be alive today

This creature would have been around

had not man crossed the boundaries that 

the Ancient of Days laid from the start.

This behemoth would still be found

Grazing, swimming in some remote protected

island had man kept His laws and commands.

Paul Bunyan would have been enthralled,

had he seen it. Taken it as pet instead of Babe. 

Like him, it was the first of its kind.

It's not a great whale for it ate grass

It's not a croc for its legs were like massive pillars

Its not a hippo nor elephant for its tail was

like a tapered trunk of a mature oak or cedar. 

Its ribs were like huge cage of iron rods

It could hold a whole pond down in its belly

when it drink. It's not to be mistaken with

the fearsome leviathan; a colossal reptilian.

It would have survived the Great Deluge

Had it been aquatic like its counterpart or

Noah had space for it inside the Ark.

So it drowned just like everyone else and

its submerged bones turned later into fossil.

It would have never been mentioned. Had a

man named Job never brought his complaint,

demanded to iron His kink. On how God

ran things around . It would have been Science's

tromp card lest they found the missing link.

Author's Note

Paul Bunyan - is a famous and beloved american folklore story of a giant lumberjack and his giant pet Babe the Blue Ox who according to legend created the Niagara Falls.

Great Deluge - it was believed that the giant animals that once roamed the earth was destroyed by "great flood". Science argued that It was instead destroyed by "giant meteor" hitting the earth causing "Ice Age" which ravaged all vegetation and causing global starvation. These giant animals were the first to succumb. These giant creatures were mentioned in the Bible. But no mention of a giant meteor.

Book of Job - one of the oldest literature and account in the Bible that mentioned this gigantic creature which named originally as behemoth and leviathan by those who first discovered them before 1400 BC . Then renamed again later after they have been rediscovered by modern explorers, scientist and archeologist in 1846 AD as dinosaur. Science argued that dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago before man populated the earth. It's possible that these creatures coexisted or lived alongside with humans at the same time. Dinosaurs didn't evolved, they were created too.

Missing Link - according to evolutionist hypothetical arguments that a gap or a bridge between apes and humans is still missing. So they could not directly link primates as human's direct ancestors until they find the "transitional fossil". To find it will tromp Genesis claim that man was created in the image and likeness of his Creator.

I read the poem aand all these reviews and comments at first with interest and then with fascination. I find it hard to process this much history. There is simply no way to prove how the world was created, whether by a big bang or intelligent design; certainly no way to prove evolution one way or the other. And I do not think these things are nearly as important as taking care of the present world we live in and trying to shape it for the future.

The intelligent design is the most logical answer . I asked myself a question long time ago as à new believer and follower of Christ . If we have evidence and fossils of dinosaurs Why it wasnt mentioned in the Bible . The Book of Job described this creature and who and how it was created . The Leviathan is even more fascinating since the depiction of a fire breathing dragon may not be a myth or product of human imagination but may have catch à glimpse of this sea monster personally or eye witness .account

Dhaye was the earth and all living creatures destroyed by great flood or massive meteor ? Science argued that it was à meteor since they found huge creater like hole about few miles wide in remote land and another under à shallow part of an ocean . If its really the cause of dinosaurs demise why it wasnt mentioned in the Bible ? There have to be some truthful explanation

If you think about it they are kind of still with us just down sized.Roosters are a reminder of a T-rex to me at least in the Philippines with the sounds of growling they make.Some species of fish like the Gar and Northern Pike gators and crocks kangaroos rhinos and hippos and all sorts of reptiles your welcome

Scientist have searched à point of impact of the said huge meteor . They have found two . One on land and the other was fully submerged on shallow water of an ocean . If it really happened Did the Bible miss that or theres possible logical explanation . I can picture the rooster or bantam you are talking about . Ice Age doesnt produce fossils . Water or flood provides the ideal environment for minerals to be deposited to the bones creating fossils .

The book of Job is a great poetic book, some say the greatest poetic book in the Bible. It is so full of God's relationship with man, and Satan figures large at the start and he is a person to be noticed because he is the Prince of the Air, the Prince of the World. The book speaks of things we are not aware of these days, the behemoth being one of them, and we wonder how old Job is, how long ago did he live. He certainly was not a Jew, the temple is not referred to in his speeches. He speaks in the main truth, he is a good man, almost perfect in his living a type of Christ, a foreshadow of what was to come.

Job did now wrong, or as little wrong as a man can do, yet he spoke of wanting God to hide his sin from hsi presence, yet God called him righteous. It is a great lesson to us to know that if pain and sorrows come upon us it isn't just that we have displeased God or by sin, it is the outcome of the Fall. We are to accept suffering even as our Lord Jesus accepted suffering at the hands of cruel and wicked men.

The poetic wording in the book is awesome. Its a long book and yet we can return to it time and time again to earn more. In the end Job meets with God and is silent. Everything is restored to him and he lives to a ripe old age. The message is clear God is sovereign and those who trust in Him will not be disappointed.

They have asked this question so many times before. Why bad things happen to good people. ?
The Book of Job is an epitome of that paradox. No one has suffered like Job yet he was a godly and righteous and god fearing and loving man. Even God Himself brags about him in heaven. But he also became the target of Satan's ploy. And we all know what happened to Job. He was a rich and wise man blessed and favored and protected by God and Satan was given permission to afflict him. And Job lost everything he has in rapid succession. Yet he did not sin. He's problem started when he begin to listen to unwise counselling of his supposed to be friends. And demanded an explanations from God. There God told Job that He created a gigantic sea monster or Dragon like serpent which is already existing and a dinosaur like creator which may have been alive and existing as well. And God mentioned so many other things about how He laid down the foundations of the earth. And God laid the boundaries of the ocean and the land. Job's audacity to demand an explanation paved a way for God to tell in this book how He alone created and orchestrated the creation of the earth, its weather patterns and all the living things. Nothing evolved, it was created. What God was telling Job that He who is a sovereign Creator of the universe doesn't need to ask permission from Job what God needs to do or prove about something in his life. But we know the behind the scene story. Satan challenged God. I like the part when God Himself " comforted " Job after his ordeal and bless him twice than what he originally have. It moves my heart when God comforts His people.

Dear Neil, your piece reminded me of the controversial Sue, the dino "discovered" in South Dakota. I wished i have watched more National Geographic channel or Discovery so that i can make a better comment in here. :)
You mentioned about the great flood theory as told in the Bible and the giant meteor theory as told by the scientist. I was thinking that these theories actually complement or support each other. I am not saying that this is true, it's just a personal opinion.
i am under the impression that the story in the bible is based on the account of persons living in a certain area. let say, Job lived in the Philippines. Naturally, his account will be limited to the happenings in this country...On the other hand, when the scientist decided to make an investigation, they decided to begin their scientific journey they discovered a meteorite hitting the earth somewhere in the North hemisphere, which melted the ice... Perhaps, the melting of the ice may have caused the Great flood. However, Job, who lived in the Philippines was not aware of such happening (no tv, no internet, no newspapers) which maybe the reason why such event was not included in his account or narration. May i reiterate that what i just mentioned are extreme example to illustrate my point (i am well aware that Job is not from the Philippines). Just my piece of cent. :)

You have a valid point and argument here Gab. I did googled the dinosaur named Sue that was discovered in South Dakota. It's a small prehistoric bird - like creature with wings made of feathers. The first fossils they found was a flying creature with a wing just like of a bat.

The account in the Bible says that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. This is not just some showers but rather a downpour. Perhaps this is the term they used for " raining like cats and dogs ". We have the effects of a Super Storm hitting the Philippines for days and causing flooding and mud and landslide. Day and night is an unrelenting torrential downpour of rain but that alone isn't enough to submerge the entire earth. God commanded the earth to open up the Aquifers. The earth has underground fresh water. If the combination of both engulf the earth. The Polar Ice and Caps too.

I do like your opinion about the possibility of meteor hitting the earth and may have melt the polar ice causing or triggering the great flood. The scientist stated that when a meteor hit the earth some million years ago it spewed dust in the atmosphere which blanketed the skies. It was so thick that it covered the sun. Imagine one volcano erupting and the pyroclastic ash it spewed in the atmosphere made day like night as what happened in the Philippines when Mount Pinatubo erupted in 1991. The meteor hitting the earth with that magnitude is equivalent to hundreds of volcano erupting and blowing pyroclastic ash in the atmosphere simultaneously at the same time. The effect of this drastic and catastrophic changes blocked the sun causing the temperature to drop. So the earth had what they called Ice Age. Without the sun. Vegetation was destroyed. No photosynthesis which plants need to manufacture their food. So if it blocked the sun and the temperature dropped to freezing range which caused the Ice Age. It could not directly or indirectly influence or caused the melting of the polar ice . The ice won't be touch.

Gab there are no right or wrong opinions in asharing discussion . Sometimes there's much wisdom and sense in an honest doubt than a full creed or pretense . I'm glad and impress that you didn't shy away from such topic . Things about God should not divide but draw us together as acollective individual to discuss and share and find out more about Him. and know Him better . If we are only content and interested on what the other side say. We are buying ourselves short of the wealth of truthful informations that are available to us . These truths are freely available to anyone with an open and inquisitive mind and a thirsty heart to know the Creator that made and loved us through His inspired word . I do agree Gab that science should not contradicts Scripture but rather compliments that there's an Intelligent and Divine Designer .

I cannot get my mind around eternity, past or future. I heard a scientist speak of multiple cycles of bangs, big bangs, going back and fro and eventually, according to him, everything would iron out until the whole of space would be distributed evenly throughout and being evenly distributed no flying quarks just every molecule gently vibrating at an eve temperature.

And I thought it made no sense. Why is it the daffodils are made so amazingly beautiful, why are we made so mysteriously complex, how is it we write poems and our lives light up with joy. It doesn't make sense to say all our hope. I read poem after poem of teenagers trying desperately trying t define love, looking for a mate to join up and procreate. There must be a life force, there must be a creator. It doesn't make sense to say we evolved from slime all by random forces in the universe. There has to be a creator, sublime, magnificent, holy, perfect and our end is to be with Him one day. Now that makes sense.

Then people say, fables of men, fairy stories, and others live a life of debauchery and rugs and destroy themselves, their choice, they lost hope. But in this mess that we call life there is much good, decent, honourable. And it starts with God and it ends with God, through His Son.

The only way we can understand a behemoth is to first ask God.

I followed your advice Frank. I listened to a radio commentator recently and somehow I never check his commentary. Here you questioned my own understanding of a behemoth. So I went back and check the Scriptures in different translations. I saw there that God was talking about two different creatures. I have mixed them up. One is a sea monster or dragon like serpent and the other is a giant dinosaur like creature. Thank you for pointing that out. It's very possible that these creatures already existed along side with humans even before the Great Flood. They were so many proofs in the Bible.

The Big Bang Theory is a plausible denial of an Intelligent Design. What you described here is a " Chaotic Chance Theory " How can a solar system be formed with all heavenly bodies colliding each other and exploding like Super Nova then all of a sudden you have a solar system with a sun and a planets revolving around them in perfect alignment. The earth in itself is unique in the way it's made. With all the elements that are ideals to sustain life is quite too coincidental to happen just by chance. The planets were all suspended in mid air or just simply float and yet it doesn't verge closer to the sun nor drift away from it. Such movement can have catastrophic implications. Turning a lush rain forest into desserts and global flooding from melting polar caps or back Global Freezing. All the planets revolves around the sun and their moons in a perfect predictable revolutionary axis. That's why they can predict when a full moon and eclipse to happen. So our solar system works like a small parts of a watch. Now how did that happen ? If everything happened or formed by chance. It doesn't go by the order of " Chaos to Order " ... But there's is order in the universe pointing to the fact that there's an Intelligent Design or God who created the entire universe.

There are some things God reveals to us clearly, then there are other things that are veiled. It is as if God is saying, you will not be able to comprehend so at the moment I let you see but a glimpse of reality. If I as an ordinary men cannot fathoms the depths of science and of the natural world, how can I fathom out the mysteries of the almighty.
When I asked, if you want to know about behemoth ask God. I was not criticising your poem I was stating when things are to hard for us to comprehend ask God, don't go making up plausible tales that might fit, leave it to him. He has declared from the beginning His ways.

Who am I to question God. But am I allowed to ask Him in prayer, yes he will answer me and if I can''t understand I rest on His wisdom and trust in Him, that like Job when everything seems disaster I will see Him face to face.

The world demands black and white answers from God, but He cannot be approached that way, we must tentatively approach the almighty in faith. When we seek God we must look at Christ. People write shed-fulls of literature of how unfair the world is, and yet when they look and read about Christ Jesus they don't see any beauty that draws their eyes, they just see an ordinary man, afflicted and stricken by men. W see the perfect man, perfect God and worship him, despite the howling of the ungodly we see Him glorious in his apparel, His garments stained crimson, He who has been treading the winepress alone.

God laughs at these scorners and knows they are but dust.

Your poem is a good witness to these mysteries of God, who can comprehend His wonders and His mercies that endure forever.
