WHAT IF

WHAT IF

A Poem by NeiL ArandA
"

Try to hold your breath as you read this piece

"

The sun has insomnia
refuse to rise at dawn;
take furlough in winter.

The moon has narcolepsy
sleeping on its watch;
laid off from its evening job.

The stars struggle to pay their bills
beset with foreclosures

 pawned their diamonds;
too broke to get it back .

The ocean close its pool for renovation
requires all ships, sea dwellers
to pay homeowners fee.

The sky has post partum depression
redecorate her curtains
from blue to gray.

The trees are enlighten
realize their destiny;
shave all their leaves in summer.

The grass decides to join the union
went on strike in spring
withhold their stalks
to every beast that graze the field.

The cloud loses its business
to bitter divorce
filed bankruptcy and ration the rain.

The earth have a nervous breakdown
diagnosed with OCD
hoards every aquifers in her bosoms.

The wind subsidize the air
charge a copay for every liters
of oxygen that people breathe ...

A mortal lasts without food for weeks, without water for days and only a few minutes without air... Now you can breathe ...it's still free !

Firstly i tried holding my breath....didnt get there.
I enjoyed the flow and intent of this one. The world is a unique place and is capable of being it's own high maintenance necessary evil. Before we run we should walk. Take in what is in front of us and respect our grass roots.

Thanks Woody. Appreciate your time.
Woot Woot! I was able to hold my breath through the whole piece :D Yay me!
Anywho-
This piece is brilliant to the core. The concepts you outline in this piece are very intriguing. It really gets the mind working. I've always been a bit a liberal, rebellious sort, who draws my own views on life. This, however has never crossed my mine, and yet, it is something I could definitely see myself preaching. Love your mind!
There were some lines that didn't quite make sense with the tense of the word and adding commas would help with the flow. Very well done, sir. This is day maker for sure!

Ha funny Neil, my middle son and brother do live there, I catch your drift! Pleasure was mine...
Wise and very creative. The things we need to appreciate in our lives and that we all take for granted until we lose them. Humans should develop farsighted wisdom in daily dealings. Excellent, sir...:)...........

Yep. You are welcome brother....:).......
Very refreshing write, Neil. This highlighted the things that we oftentimes take for granted but without which we cannot truly live. I think that this serves as gentle reminder for us to appreciate and be thankful for all the blessings given to us.

I love this poem. I have waited a while for you to put another one up. Nice to see you again. A lot of lovely lines and smart insights.
I would put a D on the end of diagnose (diagnosed with OCD) -- yes, so far the air is free, but someone may find a way to charge us for it if they can.:)
