There is nothing wrong with practicing spiritual disciplines.
Religions find their roots in seeking truth and choosing to live these truths in the practice of disciplined living.
Sadly, man perverts these truths by seeking power and control. Today, organized religions set policy, make financial goals, set political agendas, segments and isolates its members for better control...
Etc...
It no longer is about reaching to God. It is about showing off to everyone we are closer to God than they are.
Religions should focus on being vessels of Grace. We were asked to reach out to our fellow man with our hands and hearts acting as the loving hand of Christ. If we would touch the face of God all we need to do is touch those who suffer around us every day...
Sorry, I tend to get philosophical about the perversions of organized religions.
I am in flux about this topic... Peter and Paul did help organize "Churches", but they were structured to take care of their communities and support each other. Not to dictate a specific lifestyle...
Interesting topic however.

I have seen Religious people
and that's all they were it happened to me as a child
I won't say who but I learned very fast as I grew up they needed more of Jesus
and his relationship because that was the void in them it was Just the Religion and nothing more I see it every where but
there is so much of Jesus and Beauty in our church less Religion it's More about
Jesus and god and the Holy ghost that's How it should be and many sweet kind loving Holy Ghost filled people Man you should see it when our Pastor get's to preaching the Holy Ghost really works him it is Amazing sight to see I tell you.
People that were Just Religious almost pushed me away from
a lot of things but thankfully I had family that helped and guided
me when I was younger.
Religion won't save you nor will it get you to heaven only
Jesus can save us.
Thank you for sharing this truthful Humbling piece.
Blessings. Kindred poet

Hard for man to see the good road. Men prefer the easy road. In most cases men fail to see the good road till the end. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Strong and meaningful poem...Not always we succeed in our way to God, just we shouldn`t give up, as it will show us the real place to be...and this is way to our own self. which is so important. Poetry could revive our mind too and make it more open and connected to God.
Thank you for this lovely poem!
