A ROAD LESS OFTEN TRAVELED

A ROAD LESS OFTEN TRAVELED

A Poem by NeiL ArandA
"

Humanity Needs A Lesson In Humility

"

HUMILITY

… is a word less often spoken;

… is an attire less often worn.
… is a choice less often selected;
… is a meal less often served.
… is a gift less often given;
… is a vocation less often taken.
… is a virtue less often passed;

… is a fragrance less often last.
… is a service less often rendered;
… is a place less often ventured.
… is a jewel less often desired;

... is a beauty less often admired.

... is a road less often traveled;

... is Jesus less often followed.

Wow! You know, Neil, my dream as a writer now is to make a book with such inspirational and religious articles. What I want is to write something that I have to work with much effort, care, love and inspiration.

Oftentimes, we forgot that humility...

is a road less often traveled but can lead you to success;

… is a word less often spoken but can offer chances for forgiveness;

… is a gift less often given but more precious than diamond when received;

… is a service less often rendered but can raise your spirit in heaven;

… is a beauty less often desired but gives eternal charisma;

… is a choice less often selected but gives no regrets when chosen;

… is a vocation less often enrolled but gives you triumph;

… is a virtue less often passed but once you passed it, you'll be a winner;

… is an attire less often worn but keeps you decent in the eyes of God;

… is a meal less often served but can make you full;

… is a sacrifice less often seen but can affect greatly;

… is Jesus less often followed and only few can have it...

but if you really have faith, you won't be afraid of being "low" in the eyes of men but "high" in God's sight.

I admire you for being an inspirational writer here. Thanks for this piece.

A good lesson in humility Neil, each line carries its own weight. Is that last line supposed to be a question, otherwise I'd change it to 'in' instead of 'is'...imho. Well said.

humility is a rare virtue to find among the people in today's society. people are magnanimous until they encounter a humbling experience. then they learn the lesson the hard way. it's unfortunate that it has to come to that to realize how important to have humility in their lives. excellent lesson.

That was true Ms Angel. Hope for your quick recovery.
Humility is so lacking in our society today, but there are glimpses of it to be relished... You have written a wise and thoughtful poem, Neil.

Hey, you tackled the semicolon, and used it well! Always an impressive move! :)
Such wise observations in this one. Those who have not learned humility can not truly give of themselves and have lasting relationships. Very well written, Neil. Lydi**

Thanks again Ms Lydia, I appreciate your warm thoughts .
In my opinion, humility is probably the most admirable attribute in terms of one's personality. There is nothing worse than someone who cannot grasp the concept of being "humble", because that so often denotes a mind closed to the really important things in life. Well done observation.

Very true, Neil. Not many consider humility a virtue any more - we live in a me first society and we are all cheapened because of it. Nice job.

Thanks Ms Joyce, I need a good dose of it myself. It is not always an easy path.

The Humility Of Jesus ~ Let this attitude be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider Himself to be equal with God something to be grasped, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
