I find this as one of the most concise of your writings but nonetheless it doesn't fall short of deep meaning. In the old days, people would equate river to life and to abundance because the basic necessities of life can be drawn from the said body of water. It’s no wonder that the earliest civilization took place near rivers.
Your comparison of the flow of the river vis-à-vis life’s journey is poetically brilliant. The river’s source is the mountain and while it could run through the forest, the valleys and other land mass, by law of nature, it will soon lead to the ocean, unless for some reason it runs dry. We have one source of life and one destination. It’s up to us to keep it flowing so that it will reach its ultimate destination.

Whether that story was a legend or a fact. There is a strategic and economic advantage if we have access to these resources or live in close proximity with them. Its makes transportation of large bulk or goods and material much easier than by land.
I was walking by the river onetime and I thought about the fleeting life of a man. It also shows that a river could be equated with our feelings and emotions like a tame or raging river. Water is very soothing and refreshing. Just looking at the calm lake or sea really relaxes ones tired and weary spirit. But when its out of check and control. Water is the most destructive element. It can also resembles a persons personality dual by the way ( flesh and spirit ) Flesh is the embodiment of things that is opposite and hostile to God. The spirit is the opposite but the first always wars with the latter. The river can represent also our fleeting moment here on earth. If we are not a good custodian of our body and neglect and abuse it. It will not be healthy and the normal and natural flow can be hampered leading to sickness, disease and decay. Do you remember back in our childhood years when we were young and there's a river that was onetime fresh and clean and full of life. Then many years later we return and found out that the river was no longer close to what it used to be before. Aging is like that ... Man is distained to die either by choice or natural reason ordained by God. Gab thank you so much again for in-depth look on some of my writings.
I'm inspired once more with your piece, Neil. Indeed, God is the greatest author of our lives.
