IF I HAVE BUT ONE

Wise men and women still seek Him

If I have but one wish to make
I would wish for a time machine
To go back to the day that Jesus came
See His great compassion as He heals the lame

If I have but one day to live
What would I take what would I give?
Spend all my wealth like fool or
Would I leave it all to the poor?

If I have but one purchase to make
I'll buy wisdom instead of a house on the lake
Throw in contentment that too I take
What profit to make If my Lord I forsake

If I have but one possession to take
To carry it with me one that's not fake
I would ask for a good name
In doing so my Lord in me won't be ashamed

If I have but one choice to make
Pursue selfish gain and have everything?
What eternal gain having riches and fame?
If my Lord Jesus doesn't know my name

If I have to have but one friend
I would look for someone that would stick to the end
Someone who had been through everything
My Lord and savior Jesus to You I cling.
