The luck of the card

The luck of the card

A Poem by Mark Daniels

I have always relied
on the tarot card.
Which is why I'm alone
and never let down my guard.

The tarot said I'd be rich,
The tarot said I'd find love.
But now I an poor,
and I move alone.

I lost my friends,
I lost my money,
And now my life is very hard,
because I put too much trust in the tarot card.

Now I sit by the fire,
and I look at the flames.
I throw my cards into the fire,
because they're the ones to blame.

I love the story in this one, the structure is simple but that means the actions themselves have such a greater impact. It's a lovely piece
