![]() The Rain returns....A Poem by Mark Daniels![]() the sequel.....![]()
`Twas the first spring sun
since the last autumn rain, The joker had fully recovered, but the poet still felt great pain. He was laid out on a hill, watching the cloudless blue sky, think about the knight and the girl, but he didn't know why. The girl was now happy, his goal was complete, this was just one of his ghosts, that he couldn't defeat. He had battled it before, and every now and again. but this time he thought, he would never win. He saw a small shadow, and got up to attack, but soon realized it was the girl, now dressed in black. They stood and they waited, for each other to speak, but the girl ran away, for her heart was too weak. Floating to the ground, was a folded up paper. The poet put it in his pocket, for him to read at a time much later. He later sat down and he opened said paper. And what was written on it just made him sit there and stare. "I've been watching you dear poet, and I have to say that I too, through everything we go through, also love you." There was more for him to read, of which he decided not to read. He got up from his seat and to the seer he would go, to find out what just he needed to know. The seer stood there, and revealed tarot cards, while the joker was across the street, playing hearts. The poet walked in just as the first card fell. The seer looked at him: "If show me your thoughts, I will tell." The poet told about the girl, but the seer already knew. The card that had fallen was marked a very dark blue. The poet had known that was his fate, But asked of the girl, so the seer flipped over the next card, to show how her fate would unfurl. The first card was a raven, which marked loneliness and dark. And the last card would surely leave a mark. The poet flipped the final card, and simply walked away. For on that card, there was a sword. which means the knight will be with her forever more. © 2011 Mark Daniels |
