Autumn Rain

Autumn Rain

A Poem by Mark Daniels
"

based on real people....and i'm one of them.

"
I watch her sit there, I can see her,
but she can’t see me.

She sits in a pure white room,
her black hair and blue eyes are the only things visible.

She sits, and she cries,
missing out on the world.

She sits in the room to keep her broken heart from breaking.
Her heart was broken by a poet,
her heart was broken by a joker,
and by a knight.

It rains when she cries, which mostly happens in Autumn,
so we call her Autumn,
and her time of crying,
the Autumn rain.

The poet was too lonely,
the joker did’t care,
and the loyal knight just left her,
cause he didn't’t want her there.

So day in, and day out,
She sits, and she cries,
wanting to see if one will take her back,
but she knows her fragile heart could not take it.

The Autumn rain is a depressing time,
because even though the leaves have all fallen,
the trees look as though they are all dying.

The knight looks on silently,
the joker laughs, and cries,
and the poet sits there quietly,
and inside he silently dies.

The poet walks down the empty road,
right in the middle of the Autumn rain.
He holds in his hand, a small cloak,
and a single red rose.

He sees the knight,
but he also sees a smaller figure dressed in white.
The poet drops what he was holding and ran.

He picks up a pencil and paper,
and he writes a small poem
out of anger and tears.

"The Autumn rain has stopped,
but I wish I could have been part of it."
