My Savior in Black Armor

My Savior in Black Armor

A Poem by Blue Ivory

MySavior in Black Armor

Are you an enemy?

Are you a friend?

You say I can trust you

But are you calling from the other end?

I am a walker of the day

But I survive the night

Why is it that you

Never come out in the sunlight?

When all hope is lost

We give it up to you

But before that we do

Who is this, exactly,

That we're giving ourselves to?

As the sun sets

And the lights are out

You go about your mission

A savior, no doubt

I allow your whispers

To lull me to my slumber

You take away my miseries

To quench your thirst and hunger

Who are you

So sweet and kind?

And with your essence

controlling my mind?

Within you

such a beauty I find

That I surrender

A thousand times

Tomorrow morning

I'll go out dressed in black

"Your Princess Of Darkness"

Tattooed on my back

Talking to each other

And gossip reveals

I am not your only victim

The world's heart you do steal

How long will it take

For us to awake

And realize this temptation

Is nothing but bait?

My eyes are open

So my arms are closed

The fish hook before me

For you to propose

You block my vision

Surround me with dark mist

But should I take your hand?

Should I take that risk?

I can dance in the moonlight

But I do not belong to you

So when the sun comes up in the morning

I say goodbye to you...

We have choice in how and where we put faith. Some choose not to believe that, but even they still have it. Beyond that, we shape the reality of what we believe in to fit what we expect it to be, sometimes not what we want it to.

I've always been attracted to darkness and chaos. I find that here, and like it.

The syllable count seems to be out of whack here and there though, might want to work on that?

A lovely, dark poem. I have to say, for some reason, a knight in black armor seems to me much more charming than a knight in shining armor. There just seems to be some allure to darkness that we just can't resist or forget. We know we should go toward the light, and yet we linger in the darkness. It never ends well though. Kind of like the relationship between Cathy and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights, actually. :D Lovely write! Now, this is what I call a poem!

Great play on the opposite of the knight in shining armour. I find the attractions and misdeeds of the 'black saviour' a bit lacking though, leading me to find not as much depth as I think this has the potential to bring. Good work though, a fine effort.
