A Poem by Blue Ivory

Home

Just remember

You have somebody waiting

Day and night

With a home for you

Not a physical one

Just in here

Not that big

But just enough room for you

You take up all the space

It’s beating just for you

Every day the lights turn on

In case you return

Every day the door is unlocked

Every night the bed is made

Ready to hold you

It may not be much

Not much room for more than just you

But if you stretch my walls trying to stretch your feet

I’d be okay with a little wear and tear

Everybody exhausts from prolonged use

But that’s okay

That was just its purpose

To hold you

And so every day the lights turn on

Every day the door is unlocked

And every night the bed is made

In case you might return

You’re a little far away right now

But remember you have someone waiting at home

Not a physical one

Just a little tiny heart

With one key

Just you.

This 'thought' of yours filled my own thoughts with a taste of hope - for those of us the emptiness holds apart.

"Just a little tiny heart
With one key"

- Those two phrases, explain every bit of what is written above.. Makes me nostalgic for home and not just home, the warmth and belongingness ..
Well carved :)

Fine poem..a vision, almost a short story, the poet knows that poems need a narrative !
