Confession of My Love

Confession of My Love

A Poem by Blue Ivory

Confession of My Love

Sometimes my heart craves to fall in love

But I know the truth

I could never bind my heart to that of another human’s soul

For I never believed that I was human

The part of me that feels something

Is the part I call my soul

All my body can offer is friendship

My skin performs no magic

But the things I whisper into the night

If I were to share them with you…

No, I simply couldn’t

I spilled some depth into your waters today…

Many have died from just a sip

I breathed my heart into your lungs today

Because I’ve had it with the fear

It scares me that if I unpeel myself

I’ll send you running and screaming

It does not make me sad to think of how I’ve never taken someone

I feel I’m already taken

Even if just by a figment of my imagination…

You are more real to me than any man I have ever known

My man smells like intoxication

He looks like art on a canvas

My man drips like the monsoon season

And I’m a bottomless pitcher that can’t get enough…

My man woos me like keys on a piano

But when he leaves he’s a throaty violin

He melts my heart every time we’re together

I know just how he feels and how he smells

But he has no body. Just a soul.

Author's Note

Blue Ivory
I feel it's time I said it out loud...All of the poems I write, they're all about somebody fictional. I don't know if that ruins it for anyone...I don't know if that makes anyone think I'm crazy. But this madness has gone on long enough and I don't think I should keep it to myself anymore. Of course the one I call the impostor in my work is a real guy. He's the reason I'd forgotten how to dream for a long long time... I'm young. I'm naive. I fell in love. It happens. But I've picked up so many pieces since then (I have my friends here to thank for that greatly) and now sometimes when I sleep, I can feel the tickle of someone else's presence there... And these days I can wake up with a smile to the warmth of him.

A amazing poem. Had the feel of a Leonard Cohen song. Sweet, hard and needed words.
"My man woos me like keys on a piano

But he has no body. Just a soul."
The above lines. Perfect. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

For I never believed that I was human

That one line stands alone so strongly. Maybe it's because most days I feel unhuman. A mistake, a freak of nature....

My man woos me like keys on a piano

But when he leaves he’s a throaty violin

He melts my heart every time we’re together

I know just how he feels and how he smells

But he has no body. Just a soul.

BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL, my Dear you really have become quite the poet. Your words have matured in the most magnificent ways.

Thanks so much! Really glad you liked it!
With the passion that you express shows you can truly love, until you find the one that fits the poems you write then it is okay to fantasize. Your words here prove you art capable of loving someone, all you need is the right one.
