Spirit

Spirit

A Poem by Blue Ivory

Spirit

I let myself fall
Through the night sky
Passing stars on my way

Would you catch me
If I had a physical weight?

I'm a wandering soul.
I'll only hurt

If you trap me in a body.

When you're here with me,
Holding me,
You are beautiful.
You almost make my spirit want to stay at night with you.
Next to you.

I can't stay...I belong in flight...

But you, you are so beautiful, my love!

Don't cage me, please!

Lovely...the metaphor of a spirit floating free attracted by an earthly desire is strong. I think many of us can relate.

I wonder if this poem should be allowed to stand on its own without the affected text, color etc... Just a thought.. A very good poem.

Interesting point!
Bound between spirit flight...and the human experience. Funny how we trust the flight and are fearful of the love lying next to us.... but then again.. if love came with a lifetime guarantee of no pain maybe we would relax into it more lol.. Excellent words.. beautiful style.. you always are a special treat to read..xo

partly human, partly a feathered being perhaps, nonetheless, a very effecive use of metaphore and a wistful and persuasive quest of emotional freedom I felt, great stuff

I like this poem. A gentle feel to the description. I like the desire and the hope in the poem. Real love don't imprison love. Real love and friendship is wild and free. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

There is an old song that goes... "she needs someone to believe in, and a whole lot of space to breath in..." Love should not make us feel shackled, it should make us want to be ourselves even more.... it is great to be two should connected but we can't lose our individuality. Ned less to say I really enjoyed what you had to say here.

Falling in love is a scary thing indeed... I am always afraid too.
Oh wow. So beautiful and longing and full of deep messages and desires.
