Today, I read all the words
I once wrote about you.
It's amazing how hurt I was
How badly you had me broken...

It's almost as if
That girl in those pages
Was a stranger

Unbelievable how many times I cried,
I'd really thought you were the one, hadn't I?
Well, it was my mistake.
I am sorry, for any inconvenience.

There is a sad power to this. They say that every 7 years we are completely remade. Almost every cell in our body having changed or renewed completely. Could this mean that every 7 years we are reborn, the old us now dead? I've come across old letters and old pictures and have often wondered the same thing. Who was/ that stranger? A thought provoking, and moving piece. Happy that I came across it.

It is an interesting cycle... when we are betrayed by love we find it hard to believe how good we thought we had it and wonder what was real, then once we move on we cannot believe that we were ever so down and pining for that person.

Oh and you should never be sorry for having a heart and caring.

I understand this poem. I have books and journals written from 40 years ago. The poetry and story read like fiction today. Hard to believe we were young and love was the only goals. I like the honest and direct emotion in the poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
