Dear Diary,
Well, I suppose it’s about time I start calling it that. Home, that is. How do I feel about the Mystic Falls so far? It’s ok I guess. Today was definitely tiring. With the drive here, the unpacking and then all the looking around... It was fun, though.
At the Mystic Grill, everybody was staring at me and Rushmi like we were aliens. I guess, we’re the only new people around here. Everyone else seems to know each other really well! Does anyone new EVER come here? They were all friends! To them, I’m probably “an item of curiosity”. That’s the problem with small towns. Damn, I really hope when I start school, nobody starts weird rumors about me!
OK, so I googled this place like I said I would. Wow. I expected war stuff, and yes, there was a lot of crap about the Civil War, and everything, but there was something else I found. I have to say, I was right about the Mystic part: this town believes in hoodoo!!!
I guess that’s expected. Like I said, it’s a small town. Still. In this day and age? I mean I don’t know about anymore. It was just past generations who did. But no one’s believed in this s**t since like the 19th century! At least, not the rest of the world.
Turns out, this place used to be filled with Vampires. This has happened throughout several periods of time. Apparently this has been going on since the 11th century, when Vikings lived here. Yes, VAMPIRE VIKINGS (wtf?!) who were apparently the original vampires.
There was a lot of other stuff, but Rushmi took my phone away from me since I wasn’t listening to whatever she was saying. I’m gonna have to do more research. This stuff is pretty addictive. I wish Rushmi understood my love for lore and literature. I find it all so fascinating! It’s like I can’t connect with anyone else about this stuff...
Anyway, after we got out of the Grill, something weird happened. Actually, I’m pretty sure it was perfectly normal. Yeah it was. I’m just looking too into things, cuz I’m all caught up in this town’s juju and all that. What happened was that Snowy had been barking pretty loudly at something. We didn’t know what-or who-it was, but he’d turned ferocious all of a sudden.
I swear to God, I have never seen him act like that! Rushmi says it was nothing. It’s a new town. He feels threatened. But I just can’t let go of that feeling! Something was up. I mean his barking is what made us leave. We were sitting there enjoying the good music and food, when we heard him and ran out to see what was up. When we untied his leash, he looked so miserable! Like he’d seen a ghost or something. He was whimpering.
He kept barking at a distinct spot, the corner of a building. So we followed to see what was up, but there was nothing suspicious there at all. I don’t know why, but I feel really uncertain about the incident. Ugh, maybe it’s cuz I have a copy of Dracula on my nigthstand.
My bad, all of the stuff I found out today, has me hooked pretty badly! Ugh Rusmi just saw me write that and now she’s waving the book at my face and making spooky noises!
Oh dad’s calling for dinner. Gotta go!
