A person's character has a judge that traces back to our childhood. One who is pure at heart is loved by all for their kind nature and also pitied to some extent. They attract a great deal of children and animals. Dogs that normally bark at others wish to play fetch with such people. Babies that are generally fussy extend their arms out to them. A true villain, on the other hand, is one that children cry at the sight of. One who kicks the dogs. Or at least, that's what the fairy tales have taught us. But tell me now, isn't that what we grew up on? Isn't it what built all of our morals?
Wouldn't say these notions have built "all" of our morals; such beliefs, however, certainly seem reflective of stubborn stereotypical convictions long present in the human collective consciousness.
Upon their initial encounter, if a person does pass the dog-kid test, it is rather difficult for most of us to believe the individual is not "OK."
A fascinating and clearly thought-provoking post, TS!

Animals and infants.... true judges of character? I'd like to think so. Most dogs and babies love me LOL It is something of mythic proportion though isn't it??
I guess that you have captured a few incidences of abuse which we observe and happen during our formative years that shape adn reinforce our moral fibre, as well as what we learn in fables. Thanks, an interesting read.
I believe we are what our elders made us. I was brought up by Grandparents who taught me right from wrong. All kids need structure and education. A person with no love or home can see the world with a bad vision. I believe we must insure all kids can have a fair chance and give them elders to be good examples. With old age. I had learn many things from many people. A building begin at the beginning. Need to have a strong base to survive. Fairy tales are to entertain children. We must assure all children have food, house and education. Thank you for the excellent story. You made me think tonight.

I am a sugarcoated wreck. A cupcake with a chipped human tooth baked inside it. I breathe out soot left behind by the corpses you tried to bury but I come to you served in a silver platter.
A hot.. more..
