Why? The Curse of the Nation

Why? The Curse of the Nation

A Poem by Kathryn Anne Earnest
"

This was about a woman I had strong feelings for, but she wasn't all too interested in me. When she turned me down, I wrote this, and pondered a lot of things in the world, and in my mind.

"

Disappointing, disappointment

She continues her sail.

With vivid thoughts of the other girl,

She sails to the East, no water in pail.

Emptiness filling,

Clouds covering the mind,

Anger flooding,

Love stripped blind.

Why this torment?

Why this Confusion?

Why such a powerful feeling?

Is it a need?

Is it a want?

Why must one continueously try to fit,

When the puzzle is all wrong?

Why does one take so much to heart,

When one should just let free?

Will anything make sense in the end?

Will judgement be fair and righteous?

Do people take like for granted,

Or simply live too sheltered?

How do we know the right way to live?

How do we know what's right?

Could we all be wrong?

Could we just be spirialing down this tunnel?

This abyss?

This black hole that engulfs any life source it encounters?

Will we ever be free?

Will we ever learn?

Will we ever know the unknown, that is necessary to know?

No one knows.

No one knows when the world will understand,

No one knows when the world will decide when to understand,

And no one knows if the world will ever want to understand,

And no one...

Is free.
