Still Alive For You

I read this slightly lyrically, which was some-what intentional. There are a few ways to interpret the meaning/story of this poem so I'll let you take it as you see it.

You look into my eyes and you smile
and I do the same for a little while.
I’m wondering what you’re thinking
and when you sleep, what you’re dreaming.
One day you’ll tell me every detail
but for now just keep giving exhales.
We’ll both keep breathing in others’ arms
and I promise the world won’t do you any harm
as long as I’m here, and I’m not going.
I see the stars are back, and they’re glowing.
You saved my life when you came along;
gave me something to put my love upon.

You came and caught me when I was falling
and now I’m still alive for you, darling.

As per your lead in I read it intentionally that way and it really could develop into a very good song, as well. It stands this way as a lovely poem. On first read, these sound to me like the words of a beloved who is truly in love and feels protective and committed. You said two meanings, so I reread and say maybe written to a young child. My children have made my life so much more than it was without them. When they came along I realized that I had never really loved before...not in such a true and vulnerable way. Just my take(s). Since you got me writing this much, you know I liked it!

thanks :) yeah those were two meanings I thought of, in my head I see it being spoken to a child, but from personal experience it would be written to a partner. Really glad you like it!!
