Mask

Mask

A Poem by Frankie Warman

The mask we all wear.
The fake smiles, the friendliness
The anger that boils within.
The desire to hurt.

We all exist as equals.
We all wear our masks as equals.
We can all love, but we let the mask do it.
We can all hate, and that is us.

Discard the mask.
Face the truth.
When free, what does one do?
Live? Or make masks?

Make endless masks.
The desire to hide what you have.
Your freedom, it must be hidden.
Or do you share it with all?

The mask shatters.
The mask is destroyed.
And suddenly those that are masked
All turn away from you, they like you, were hiding.

Can you face loneliness.
To be you?
To discard your mask, to bask in light.
Can you truly do it?
