Chapter 1:New HomeA Chapter by Lucy M Baker
I was awaken from sleep by being rammed into the back of the passengers seat. For some reason the car was forces to a halt. I looked out my window to find that we were stuck in traffic. There was always traffic getting out of the city this time of day.
I gently sighed and sat back. It was gonna be a long journey to Texas. To be honest I was happy to have a country life over a city one. Even tho I would miss my friends drastically. But I was ready...for my new life. Its took about a couple of days to get to Texas. I'm not sure which part, but it was in the middle of no where. We pulled up to a black and purple Victorian house. It was on a base of a hill and on top of the hill stood a huge white Victorian house. In the the backyard there was a small pond with a few koi fish. Most of the yard had been abandoned and filled with weeds and overgrown grass. The huge house looked dead of any kind of life. I walked back around to the front to find my parents talking to a older couple. From behind me something small and hard has been throw at my back. I turned around to find my brother with a fist full of rocks. I thumped up to him and whacked him in the face as I scolded "what the hell are you doing?!" "I got an idea why don't you help me unpack?" John said walking to the truck. I rolled my eyes and followed him. When I was unloading the truck I could tell the old woman talking to my parents was studying me intently. I only fussed it was because of my strange appearance. I was pretty sure most folk out here haven't see a goth before. From my tall, skinny, lanky body. To my bright frizzy red hair and heavy eyeliner. I just dragged a seem to be million ton bag to the front porch and sat it down. I stood there and waited for my parents to open the door. After a good 20 minutes my dad finally shoves me out of the way to open the door. He walked in and my mom and brother followed, leaving me with all the luggage. I entered the house with the bag. My dad turned on the light to a dusty chandler. It lit the room poorly, but enough to show the old dusty living room. It still had furniture in it. The couches were torn up and the floral pattern on them was faded. The wooden coffee table was all scratches up and the wooden floor creaked to the slightest moves. "Gee, there's a lot of work to be done" my dad said inspecting around. I walked into a back room which still had a bed in it. I went and opened the blinds as dust flew everywhere. "Jesus Christ!" I yelled coughing. I sighed and peered out the window. I had a great view of the pond and the house on the hill. "Candice, get your lazy a*s in here!" Screamed my dad. I rolled my eyes and slumped into the living room. "I told you to get the rest of the bags" he scolded as he usually did. Finally later into the night I set my violin case on the bed of the room I explored earlier. I claimed that room mine. I opened the case to see if my violin survives the trip. Finally I pulled up the dusty covers and slid into bed. I was eager to go to school tomorrow. I was ready for my fresh new start...to be excepted. © 2013 Lucy M Baker |
