How do I find the words?

The words that convey the images,

the images that bathe my soul

in the radiance of your presence.

How do I find the words?

The words that paint the portrait

of you, my love eternal, shimmering

and ethereal in the halls of my heart.

How do I find the words?

The words that tell you the depth,

the security, the harmonious peace,

of your love's hand upon mine

as we dance with cherubs' wings

to the endless music of two souls wed.

How do I find such words,

when with a whisper and sigh

"I love you" is not enough?

This is possibly the first poem I wrote after returning home from Iraq in September of 2011 and then learning my fiancé had been diagnosed with a terminal genetic condition.
