Gentle Conquest

Gentle Conquest

A Poem by Matthew
"

January to March, 2012.

"

Heavy sky,

Silent cry…                          Gentle conquest.

Pale white hue,

Weighty dew…                  Gentle conquest.

Refreshing sigh,

Blown from high…            Gentle conquest.

Night's accrue,

Passing thru…                    Gentle conquest.

Icy morn,

Bowed, forlorn…                Gentle conquest.

Author's Note

Matthew
As with other poems that would follow this, here I began subtly shifting to using the beauty of Nature to focus on mortality, melancholy, and loss. This may be the first poem in which I did so; certainly it is the earliest I still have.
