Apple Without a Core

You cannot tell me anymore

I paint my hair

I tear my skin

I ignore the tingles on my body

It is not a privilege

It is a sentence

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree

But I am coreless

Because on this day 18 years ago

I became older than he ever did

Author's Note

I wrote this awhile ago around October.
October 25th, 1995 my father took his own life only a few months after my birth. So now being 18 I am older than he ever was. I get told how much I look like him so I change my appearance. But no matter what, I love him.
Not trying to get attention, just trying to explain where the emotion is coming from.

This is a very profound piece and deeply sad.I am sorry about your dad.Some people can't handle responsibility so well or are battling their demons and they can't win.It is sad.,You are a very good writer so he would have been proud even if you are pissed at him for choosing death over a chance of life:)
