The Corn Field by SIbo x POET and Lethu Simelane

A Poem by Sibling
"

I noticed the beauty of the corn field in our backyard during the summer. Last third or so,by my boy Lethu Simelane.

"
Tall green dancers
Sway gently to nature's whistle.
With a poignant rhythm
They fall unto each other

Feet rooted
In the fertile brown dirt
Beyond the green-dyed earth.
They stand tall around each other.

The green gods
Donning golden crowns
Are worshiped by the grass
Bowing lower down.

They dance
with babies in hand
Children of the land
Warily watch

As their mothers
Break the bond
By weaning the infants
Simply ripping off.

Sweet sounds of mirth
The joys of birth
Wash the pain away
A reward for the day
A gift for life -

Welcomed with a smile
A symbol of gratitude
Humbling to the heart
As it pumps harder
Beating in sync

With mother earth's tune
A sweet serenade
Hummed by the silence winds
As the trees sway side to side
Dancing to the rhythm.
