An old cat's taleA Poem by ThePhoenixWriterpoem/story told from the point of view of an old cat who....SPOILERSAcross that carpet I used to go a run. I remember those
days. So shiny and bright I
was. Petted by all I miss. Frolicking and
playful I ran all day across bays of fabric, I did not delay. Time kept rolling
on. With every pounce,
every roll of my yarn, every stroke her hand took on my fur. Why my tail twitched
so high in the air no more I wonder. Now I know. I lay in the aura of dust a foot away from my
bowl. Every day growing a
spec closer to it. Walking by, still in
curiosity and innocence a kitten stood nearby. I sat frowning
eternally. Only my eyes moved
ever so lethargically where the kitten’s own scanned wildly full of wonder and
energy. My food next to my
territory. A corner of the
kitchen for my merry. I sat watching the
children run by, the kittens play, my oh my. Whilst the kitten’s
grow and watch me die. In my own gluttony eternally here I will lay, here i lie. © 2016 ThePhoenixWriter |
