Enter Aiden

Aiden awakes with no memory to a world of horrors.

The fog was lifting I could feel it. There was light shining through so bright. I could almost make out a faint voice as the light went a brilliant red.

 

“Wake up! Come on damn it. You're the only hope any of us have for leaving this place in one piece!” A man shouted.

 

Slowly I let my eyes slide open. The room was dark but my eyes adjusted quickly. Taking in my surroundings I realized quickly I was in some sort of laboratory. But it looked like a tornado had come through. Glass riddled the floor from shattered vials and test tubes, and there was medical equipment strewn all over the place. There was a series of lockers on the far wall next to the door and other than that the room was very plain, much like a hospital.

 

“Thank god you're awake.” The man called out terrified.

 

“Come on. We have to get the f**k out of here before those things find out where we are.” The man continued as he grabbed my arm.

 

Part of me wanted to ask this strange man who he was, and why he was in such a hurry to get us out of here. The rest of me just wanted to know how I got here in the first place.

 

It was like I was a newborn, and yet I still knew what everything was around me. I tried to search my mind for a name or a face or anything, but all I could find was emptiness. I couldn't remember anything before waking up just now. Not even a name or a face, nothing. My mind was a blank slate.

 

Ripping out the various needles in my arm I stood and gathered my bearings. The man led me over to a rack of military style clothing. The mirror on the wall provided me a brief glimpse of myself. My body was muscular, toned. My hair was short and yet seemed to stand up perfectly on its own. Staring into my reflection I noticed my eyes were very blue, like the cleanest waters in the ocean, and my skin was pale. It looked as if I hadn’t been outside in years.

 

“Here put these on,” said the man tossing a pair of clothes over to me. “My name's Aiden by the way. And listen I'm sure you have a lot of questions but now isn't the t-”

 

Just then another man burst through the door crying out an inhuman roar. The eyes were bloodshot and he smelled of decaying flesh. Stumbling forward it grabbed Aiden by the throat biting deep into his flesh. What the f**k was going on? It was like something out of a horror movie.

 

Taking a step back I tried to ignore Aiden's screams as it knelt down by him taking more chunks of flesh from his neck, but it soon realized it wasn't alone. Fear gripped me like a vice. I was alone. I would die alone. I clenched my fists as I thought about how this creature had just killed the one person I might be able to get answers out of. Why I was here, and more importantly who I was. The creature charged at me, arms outstretched.
