Prologue

*one millennium ago*
The old servant wept bitterly as he listened to the drifting throughout the window. The city was burning, the flames beginning to lick the walls of the castle. Screams of the elflien people echoed across the city. His own forbidden love lay dying in his arms.
"Why...?" asked the lady weeping "why would they do this?"
"I am sorry my lady, I have failed you." the servant whispered, "The dukes and duchesses have far too much power in the kingdom. I can do nothing to protect you or our people."
"Where is my knight?" she wept, "Where is my love? why does he not come?"
"My lady... he is dead." the old servant whispered.
"If he is dead why do they still come!? why do they kill our people?!"
The old servant remained silent.
"They're coming to kill me." she stated suddenly realizing becoming suddenly calm, "They seek to take over."
"Yes." wept the old servant.
"But why burn the city? surely they still want a kingdom to rule over." she said clutching on to his robes, their combined tears staining rich fabric. "Why not simply kill the king? why do the elflien have to be involved?"
"They- they know of the power bestowed on us by the elflien. They fear it, though they have only heard stories so far. The others want the power for themselves, but sadly, one of the Dukes have convinced the others that the only way to not be defeated by our power is to wipe out the race of elflien."
"When will they have enough!? is it not enough that they stole four of the knifes already?! is it not enough they will kill our king?!" she screeched.
"My lady, please! you mustn't over exert-"
"To the pits of fire with over exertion! I have been a dead woman walking for far too long! I will end this now." said the lady digging into a secret compartment of the bed a pulling out an ornately decorated knife. The old servant's eyes widened at the sight.
"that's-!" he exclaimed.
"Yes." she confirmed, "and a curse on all humans whom try to take the power of the elflien that does not belong to them! They have sought to wipe us out, but they will never wield our powers without us!Let them drown in their own folly!" she brought down the knife and water replaced all.
****

*an old prophecy written in fire on the floor of the throne room*

A millennium of darkness will pass in water before
Long forgotten lines will shine anew.
Ladies of six will be the forge and
Every curse shall be lifted, and power returned as a
New king and he knights reclaim the light.
