Elite 490

Elite 490

A Poem by TheDuraMater
"

uh a song I wrote about a friendship ending less than amicably

"
You can shoot me down, spark my wounds
You can't forget the times I've stood up for you
Even with your boots on my chest

It's not just in my head but in the way you move
Around these parts like they've always been yours
You change your scenery with everything you do
But can you hear them laughing?
Let me tell you, bro, it's not with you

If you want me to leave, just tell me please
I'm sick of politics and putting faith in the elite
You pick your sides, I pick my battles
But it's the past you can't defeat
Don't treat me like I never had your back
Remember that when they slice yours

You're giving up on me and that's okay
I'm used to standing by myself at each break of day
The dawn comes without hesitation and I wonder if it's expectations
Or maybe just personality that caused you to want to leave
But at least have the f*****g decency to say goodbye to me

All those times we said you wouldn't fall
Even I owned up when it was my fault
But you can't bring yourself to speak
So good riddance, they'll chew you out
I am finished and you are weak

If you want me to leave, just tell me please
I'm sick of politics and putting faith in the elite
You pick your sides, I pick my battles
But it's the past you can't defeat
Don't treat me like I never had your back
Remember that when they slice yours
