My Mind

My Mind

A Poem by Diamond Dunbar

What happened to you?
Nothing seems the same nothing feels okay.
Do you have any clue what I've been through before I met you, during you and after you?
Can you bear all this pain and still be the same?
What if they betrayed you, would you still want to stay?
What if that fist hit your face and burst your lip?
What if they dragged your name in dirt like it wasn't s**t.
What if they talked about you in your face and you wasn't allowed to say s**t.
What if they left you in the rain and when they called you still came quick.
They made me a monster, they made me a b***h, they made me hate myself, they said I wasn't s**t.
I never got a chance to dream because they'll clown that s**t.
"Sit yo black a*s down somewhere, you can't do s**t."
The world got inside my head.
Their opinions beat me up now.
Even if there is no one around, I still hear those ugly sounds.
