Illusion

Illusion

A Poem by Diamond Dunbar

Life is as bizarre as my dreams considering nothing is ever what it seem.
Atleast in a dream it's easier to control things.
In life your control is only in how you respond to things.
Can't replay or redo a scene.
Once the moment has passed it's gone forever.
You can change who you are but you can't change the weather.
You can't change who they are but you can change ties to that feather.
"Believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see."
So you mean to tell me that even apart from my dreams I'll still have a hard time understanding reality.
What happens in my dreams are constructed by me and old memories.
What happens in the world is constructed from every damn entity.
I'm supposed to prepare for battles that ain't even meant for me just to learn a lesson that after today won't mean s**t to me.
Promises that the lesson could stop me from hindering me.
When in actuality that wasn't a lesson for me to learn because it wasn't something I lacked.
It wasn't something I missed, it wasn't something I didn't get.
I was just in the wrong place hanging with the wrong kids.
You want to know what hindering myself is like, hanging around people who don't even care that I'm there.
Being around friends who swear they keep it real yet everyone you go around got some beans to spill.
Even family ain't who they say they are, learn any of your business just to tear you apart.
I may always have these ugly scars but at least I know longer deal with the same flaws.
